This property was once owned by Joseph L. Low who built the former home at 70 North Main St. and owned all the land that now is Lewis St., Buxton Court and the Town Yard. Low also owned several parcels on the east side of North Main St to Harding St. Joseph Lows heirs sold off several parcels of land on the east side of North Main and South side of Harding St. Sally Low, administrator of his estate sold this lot of one acre for $500 to Persis M. Bliss on Apr. 2, 1872. The home was built for Bliss, a widow, and later sold to Margaret Doherty on Sept. 24, 1887.

The Doherty family purchased several other homes on Harding and High Street through the years of ownership. This home was held by the family for 65 years then sold to John R. Fredrickson, wife Eva M., on Oct. 3, 1952. Frederickson owned for ten years.

George A. & Phyllis B. Grant purchased the home on May 28, 1962. George Grant died on Aug. 10, 1976. Phyllis B. Grant held ownership another 12 years then selleing to the current owners in Sept. 1988.
