Historical Narrative: 

Holt owned land originally - John Fiske had property here by 1775 (see 142 Hidden Rd). Working farm to present with roadside vegetable stand.

Called Shady Brook Farm before Turner Farm.
House built pre-1830 (map); probably 1813 by carpenter David Hidden, who had come from Newburyport to build Andover Theological Seminary building. Local house-wright David Hidden lists this construction in his account book and records.

"Widow Abbott' lived here. "Widow Abbot Farm" in early deeds. The Widown Abbot was Mary ( Molten) Abbot second wife of Isaac Abbot Jr. Isaac Abbot Jr. was born on Dec. 9, 1768, son of Deacon Isaac A. & Phebe (Chandler) Abbot. Isaac first married Hepzibah Fisk on July 5, 1798. Hepzibah was born on Apr. 21, 1773 dau. of John Jr. & Hepzibah Fisk. Isaac & Hepzibah had one daughter Mary Fisk b. Mar. 14, 1800. Sadly Hebzibah died in "Childbed" on Mar. 22, 1800.

Isaac remarried on on Oct. 7, 1801 to Mary Molten (Moulton) b. 1775. Isaac and Mary had five children; Josiah F. b. Dec. 5, 1801, Phebe b. July 9, 1803 - d. Feb. 20, 1821, Isaac b. Mar. 26, 1805, Sarah Fisk bpt. June 21, 1807 and Samuel b. Feb. 22, 1807.

Isaac Abbot Jr. died two months before his son Samuel was born. Andover Vital Records state: Isaac Jr. age 38 died on Dec. 27, 1806 "Oct. 16" after a muster fell from house & was never well afterwards. His widow Mary had six young children to provide for and remained in the homestead until her death on Aug. 18, 1851. The three sons inherit the property. Josiah, wife Mary F., appear to live in the homestead. Brother Samuel was married twice, widowed, he remarried Caroline Trull daughter of Levi & Nancy Trull on May 15, 1849. Josiah M. sells his share to Samuel, yet holds the mortgage which is later purchased by Stephen D. Abbott on June 6, 1859. The property is foreclosed on by Stephen D. Abbott and Ballard Holt on June 21, 1867 who then sell the farm to William Hackett.

William Hackett (see 62 Porter Road) purchased the 40 acre farm on June 21, 1867 for $4000. Hackett then moved here from 62 Porter Road. William Hackett was born Oct. 8, 1813 in Brookfield, NH son of William & Elizabeth (Thurston) Hackett William married at Danvers, MA on May 29, 1851 to Eliza Ann Smith b. 1820 dau. of John & Elizabeth “Betsy” Smith. William and Eliza had three children: William H. b. 1852 and twins Edward and Albert born 1866
William died on April 27, 1895 and son William H. inherited the farm. "Later a Hackett married a Turner and was in the Turner Family until 1979. Anne and Harvey Turner bought 6/5/29 and have kept it as working farm until old age and poor health prevented them. Harvey Turner died 1977 - was originally from Reading.

Land part of large farm developed by Jacob Jones of Wilmington which stretched from Hidden Road (see 142 Hidden Road) to what is now Main Street on land he purchased from Darius Abbot and Mary Holt. Known also as Holt - Fiske - Abbott House.
