Historical Narrative: 

66 Chestnut St.
The land once belonged to Moody Russell, an Andover carpenter, who sold this lot on Aug. 4, 1894 to George E. Holt for $700. Andover Townsman - Aug. 31, 1894 p.1 – A house lot on East Chestnut Street has been sold by Moody Russell to George E. Holt.

George Eugene Holt was born Aug. 23, 1860 in Andover, son of Warren E. & Susan (Mc Stevens) Holt. George worked for T. A. Holt Co. a general store located in the basement of the Baptist Church at 6 Central St. George would later become a partner in the firm T.A. Holt Co. and is listed a proprietor in 1910. The company was dissolved in 1918 after 90 years in that location and sold to Hetherington Co. George was a member of the Masons St. Mathew lodge A.F. & A.M. of Andover and also Lodge I.O.O. F of which he served as treasurer for 30 years.

George married on Aug. 23, 1893 in Locaher, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, to Isabelle “Belle” Ann
MacLaughlin b. Mar. 9, 1863 born in Locaher, dau. of John & Janette M. (Stewart) Mac Laughlin. They had three daughters; Anna May b. May 23, 1893, Helen Edith b. Mar. 17, 1895 and Charlotte L. b. June 12, 1900. George died after a five month illness on May 26, 1927 and was interred in Spring Grove Cemetery. His bearers were all his former business associates: Charles B. Jenkins, William B. Cheever, James Marshall and Arthur Jackson.
The estate went to his widow Belle and their three daughters. The property was sold to her daughter Helen Holt Weeks on Nov 27, 1936. Belle died in 1943 in Danvers Hospital.

Daughter Helen E. Holt b. March 17, 1895 married on June 23, 1916 to Clarence H. Weeks b. Sept. 26, 1885 in Andover, son of John & Amanda Jane (Horsman) Weeks. They lived in Somerville, MA and Clarence was a clerk for the steam railroad, then in 1930 as an agent for a commercial refrigeration company and finished his career as a traffic engineer for the Missouri Pacific Railroad until he retired. They moved to Andover after Helen purchased the house in Nov. 1936. They were members of South Church and the Holt Association. Helen & Clarence had three children all born in Somerville: Clarence Horsman b. Dec. 29, 1919, Richard Henry b. Feb. 27, 1923 and Margery Marjorie b. Mar. 31, 1929.

Helen Weeks died on Sept. 18, 1959 at age 64. Clarence died on Feb. 8, 1968. His children inherited the estate. Daughter Marjorie married Henry L. Wilson and lived in Georgetown. Son C. Horsman Weeks lived in Longmeadow, MA and Richard H. Weeks in Andover.

Richard Henry Weeks purchased the house from the estate in April 1969 and a year later sold to William J. & Martha E. Boucher on Mar. 24, 1970. The house would be sold twice prior to the purchase of Theodore E. & Rose S. Babine and Matthew W. & Cristina (Babine) Addesa in 2003. Mathew & Cristina would become sole owners on Sept. 6, 2011.

The Addesa family began extensive restoration of the house, inside and out, restoring lost architectural elements when vinyl siding was added. The new detached two stall garage was built to complement the style of the home.
