This property was once owned by Rufus Caldwell and was part of his 75 acre farm. His house was located east of Boston Rd. between So. Main St. His estate was auctioned off after his death in October 1891. The property was purchased by Brooks F. Holt for $1500. Brooks F. home was on South Main St. and he was an Ice Dealer in town. Brooks later sold his business and began selling off parcels of the former Caldwell farm.

Napoleon "Paul" Noel purchased the lot on Dec. 11, 1915. Known as Paul, he place the deed in both his name and his wife Mary Rose Noel on June 5, 1923.

Napoleon Noel was born 1876 in Quebec, Canada, son of Cleophas & Olivine (Baril) Noel. Paul immigrated to Lawrence, MA in 1908 and married on June 23, 1908 to Mary Rose Ducette, b. 1879 in P.E.I. Canada, daughter of Vital & Marguerite (Martin) Doucette. Rose was a dressmaker. Known as Rose she was the sister of Thomas and Freeman Doucette who owned #12 Boston Rd. Paul became a foreman in the flax mill of Smith & Dove Manufacturing Co. in Abbott Village, Andover. The former company complex is now Dundee Park. Paul and Rose had five children; Olivine M. b. Aug. 1909, Elwin Joseph b. 1912, Lillian b. 1914, Edward Joseph b. 1919.

The 1920 Andover Valuation Schedule lists Paul Noel - at "Main St" South District. House $500, Garage $100, 1 1/4 acres $100 = $700 assessment.
Smith & Dove Manufacturing Co. was bought out in 1927 and the operation moved to Ludlow, MA. Paul then went to work at Phillips Academy as a gardener and grounds keeper at the school.

In Mar. 17, 1932 the deed needed to be corrected to his given name of Napoleon, not his nickname of Paul. Their son Elvin Joseph graduated from Punchard High School in 1931. Daughter Olivine and Lillian worked making shoe for Tyer Rubber Co. Edward J. work as a Utility worker for Phillips Academy. The Noels sold to Leo & Madeline Gallant on Nov. 6, 1945 and moved to 7 Hartigan Court.
