On this site was a Craftsman style bungalow most likely built the Hannah & Thomas Dowling in 1916. The parcel of land at that time was 7 5/6 acres boarding on Greenwood and Chandler Roads and the south boarder was the former Lowell & Lawrence western division branch of the Boston & Maine Railroad discontinued in the 1920’s. Johanna “Hannah” M. Boland born in 1880 in Limerick, Ireland, dau. of David & Bridget (Sullivan) Boland. Hannah immigrated in 1895 and found work as a waitress in Lawrence. Hannah married on July 12, 1904 to Thomas W. Dowling, born Feb. 16, 1881 in Pittsfield, MA son of Michael & Mary A. (Waters) Dowling. The 1920 Census lists Thomas as a Wool Sorter.
The couple had plans to develop their parcel in 1919 sub-dividing the property into 13 parcels A - M with a road, Dowling Terrace, extending near the intersection of Greenwood & Chandler Roads and ending at the railroad line. (See Map plan #353) Hannah and Thomas also had extensive property deals in the neighboring towns buying and selling real estate.
The plan in West Andover lists their house on lot L&M and a second house on lot A on Chandler Road. The 1920 Valuation list Hannah A. Dowling, Chandler Rd. House $3000, barn 200, 7 5/6 acres $450 = $3650. Hannah & Thomas took a mortgage from the Andover Savings Bank in 1919.
Hannah Dowling sold lots L and M with the bungalow to Fred Buxton, H. Gordon, and Ernest & Eliz. Woodbury on Oct. 1, 1920. They held one year then sold on Nov. 21, 1921 to Thomas F. Walsh, wife Almira. The sale for $4000 also carried a mortgage to the Andover Savings Bank of $2566.69. Walsh is listed as a station engineer.
The Andover Savings Bank foreclosed on the property in Nov. 1935 and the property still owned by Dowling and the bungalow owned by Walsh were sold at auction.
The house was purchased by Santo & Josephine Rapisardi on Mar. 28, 1936 for $4000. Santos was born April 2, 1885 in Belpasson Catania, Italy son of Agustino & Agaga (Ballia) Rapisardi. Santos, a laborer, married on Nov. 12, 1912 in Lawrence, MA to Giuseppa Josephine Cavallaro b. 1887 in Italy dau, of Alfio & Rosa (Zappala) Cavallaro. The couple had five children; Rosa b. 1913, Angelina b. 1915, Augustine b. 1918, Frederick v. 1923 and Grace b. 1925. The family lived at 90 North Street prior to moving here.
Rapisardi held three years then sold to Frank A. & Marie L. Goeman on Nov. 22, 1939 who were renting the house in 1935.
Frank Arnold Goeman was born May 13, 1899 in St. Nicholas, Waas, Belgium and immigrated via NYC in Aug. 1915. Frank was a weaver in the Pacific Mills, joined the Army in Aug. 1920 was a Private, Co. July 20, 1929 in Manchester, NH who graduated from Punchard High School in 1947. The Goemans relocated to Detroit, Michigan and sold the property to

It appears Delisle died shortly after the purchase and the heirs then sold to John A. & Rita J. Donahue on July 20, 1948 for $9500. John was a mill worker.
