Daniel Poor b. Mar. 27, 1782 in Andover, was a Manufacturer and founding member in the Ballard Vale Company mill in 1835 with Abel Blanchard, John Marland, Abraham J. Gould and Mark H. Newman. Prior to this Daniel Poor had partnered with Abel Blanchard, a Paper Maker, Abraham Gould and Mark Newman, both book sellers, in Andover under the name of Poor, Blanchard & Co. They bought the former Gris & Saw Mills of the late Timothy Ballard estate, with water & dam rights on the river. The plan was to build a paper mill on the site. The foundation had been laid when John Marland convinced the men to partner with him in the woolen mill.

Daniel was married to Deborah Bowers Baker, b. Dec. 10, 1786. daughter. Daniel & Deborah had two sons, Thomas Baker Poor b. Mar. 16, 1818 and Daniel b.May 28,1824. Daniel Sr. died of Apoplexy on July 4, 1846. As he had no will, the courts appointed his wife Deborah as administrator of his estate. Deborah declined, and her son Thomas B. was then appointed. Daniel's estate was probated and a complete record of his belongings is recorded. A house and shed on about 45 sq. rods of land, and all household items are listed. Daniel held 11 shares of stock in the Ballard Vale Mill totaling $5500. When all the debts were paid the estate was $6474. which was split three ways between mother and two sons.

The 1850 census list Thomas B. Poor, Manufacturer, wife Beulah French, mother Deborah B. and brother Daniel, Overseer. Mary A. Allen, age 20, was also listed in the household. Thomas B. married Beulah French b. Oct. 19, 1821 in Tewksbury, daughter of Silas & Lucy (Shed) French. Beulah died of Consumption on Jan. 14, 1857. Mother Deborah B. died on Aug. 19, 1861 also of Consumption. Thomas died on July 15, 1863. All are interred at South Parish Cemetery. Brother Daniel Poor would inherit the property.

Daniel Poor was born in Andover on May 28, 1824, son of Daniel & Deborah (Baker) Poor. Daniel became an Overseer in the Ballard Vale Mills. On the 1852 map of Andover he is located in this home. Daniel married at age 35 on June 3, 1861 to Mary A. Malcolm of Dedham, MA. Mary was born in China, Kennebec, Maine on March 5, 1840, daughter of David & Lydia (Studley) Malcolm. Sadley Daniel contracted Diphtheria and died on Aug. 27, 1864 age 40. His widow Mary was with child at the time and gave birth to Daniel Hervery (Herbert) Poor in February 1865.

Mary A. Poor remarried on Oct. 27, 1866 in Andover to Edmund Monroe Fessenden, b. Jan. 31, 1831 in Charlestown, MA son of Edmund & Lucy E. (Annis) Fessenden. Edmund was a Clerk at the Whipple File & Steel Manufacturing Co. in Ballardvale. Mary & Edmund had two sons Edmund M. Jr. b. Jan. 3, 1868 and George Malcolm b. Oct. 8, 1873. Husband Edmund M. died about 1888. No interment record has been located in Andover. Son Daniel H. Poor worked in the Ballard Vale Mill as a Wool Sorter. He would continue to live with his mother. Edmund M. Jr. married Jane P. "Jennie" b. 1862 - d. 1951 and lived in Lawrence. George married and moved to Litchfield, Connecticut.

Mary would deed the property to her son Daniel H. Poor on Sept. 25, 1906. Her health was failing as she had Diabetes and Tuberculosis. Mary died on June 12, 1912. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Ballardvale, and the Ballardvale Lodge #105 I.O.G.T. Mary is interred at South Parish Cemetery with Daniel Poor.

Daniel H. would later place the property deed in both his and Lillie B. Poor" names on Jan. 13, 1922. Daniel died on Oct. 25, 1925. Lilly Poor would keep the property for 12 more years then selling to Ida A. Scammon of Portland, Maine on Aug. 25, 1937.

Oscar J. & Charlotte (Lawrie) Dufresne purchased the property on Dec. 20, 1941. Oscar died on June 14, 1969 and widow Charlotte then placed the property in both her name and her daughter Evelyn E. (Dufresne) Magoon in July 1969. Evelyn E. Magoon and her husband Alvin H. Magoon then became owners in May 1980. They had two children; son Francis A. Magoon and daughter Bonnie L. Magoon.

With the death of Alvin Magoon in July 1999 and then their son Francis A., in Sept. 2008, Evelyn (Dufresne) Magoon willed the property to her daughter Bonnie L. (Magoon) Haley and her twin sons Matthew and Kyle Haley. Matthew and Kyle, being 21 years old at the time of their grandmother's passing in Dec. 2013, decided to place the home in their parents names Michael Haley and Bonnie L. Haley which was recorded on Mar. 17, 2014.

The Haley family did extensive restoration to the home in 2015 and 2016.
