Old style house, clapboard and wood exterior, brick & stone foundation, Gable roof of Asphalt. Unit has 7 rooms, 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, 1/2 bath. Has back screened-in porch, a shed and a garage; 2 1/2 stories. Front entrance is Colonial Revival style may have been added in the 1920's.
Historical Narrative:
The home pictured on this page is the original home built in 1864 - 1865 by John Neville who purchased the lot from Albert Kittridge on April. 14, 1864. Neville built several homes on Marland St. He took a mortgage form Benjamin W. Burtt, a farmer in Tewksbury, who had been investing in property in Ballard Vale. Jacob L. Burtt, wife Mattie A. brother of Benjamin was assigned the Neville mortgage on Jan. 15, 1872. Eddy Newcomb then purchased the property on May 16, 1872.
Eddy Newcomb then transferred the deed to his wife Sarah A. through Hiram G. Newcomb on Jan. 25, 1873. Newcoms owned four years then selling to Eliza Price on Jan. 22, 1876. John Cochran, wife Mary and Sarah Jones purchased the home on Oct. 18, 1877.
