This property was once part of the Enoch Abbott farm across the street at 6 Stinson Rd. This parcel contained 28 acres of farmland meadow. The property was purchased by Sarah R. M. Hiler, wife of Stephen G. Hiler on May 6, 1844. 1850 Andover Valuation; Stephen G. Hiler Jr., Dwelling house $450, Barn & other buildings $175, 11acres adjoining $495, 33a pasture $594 Farm Stock $137. Stephen G. Hiler was born in 1815 in Boston son of Stephen & Rebecca Hiler., He was the first Minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church in North Andover, organized in 1845. Stephen served one year. He later established the Church in Ballardvale in 1850. He served in Topsfield and later Hamilton, MA. Hiler held for eight years then sold on October 13, 1852 to Dudley Chandler of Boston for $1300.

Dudley Chandler held the property for three years and he may have built the current house on the property. Chandler then sold to John N. Heckler, wife Elizabeth of Melrose, MA for $3700. on Apr. 20, 1855. The large increase in price suggests that perhaps a house has been added, but no mention in the deed. John Heckler was b. in 1816 and wife Elizabeth in 1818 both from Bavaria, Germany. In 1855 State census John is a Baker and in 1860 a farmer. They had a daughter Almeria b. 1843 in Charlestown, MA. A son Lewis Heckler b. about 1859 is listed in 1870 when they live in North Andover. John works in a bakery.

Heckler owned for thirteen years then selling to Francis S. Dole on July 8, 1868. Dole paid $3500 for the property which still included 28 acres of land. The Dole family were connected to the property for 67 years. 1870 Valuation: Francis S. Dole: Dwelling house $1050, Barn $400, 28 acres $950 = $2400 Farm Stock $200.
Francis Sidney Dole was born Aug. 17, 1800 in Boston, married in Rochester, MA on May 19, 1835 to Elizabeth P. Crossman b. 1818 in Rochester, MA, dau. of Arannah & Elizabeth (Peckham) Crossman. This was Francis second marriage. They first lived in New Bedford, MA then moved to Evan Corner NY. Children: Joseph C. b. Feb. 22, 1836, James R. b. Apr. 2, 1838 in Rochester, MA, and Francis S. Jr. (Frank A.) b. 1851 Eden, NY. Mother-in-law Elizabeth P. Crossman living with them. She died in Jan. 1867. Dole family then moves to Andover.

Francis S. is listed as a Cooper in 1870 Census. Elizabeth and their sons Joseph C. and Frank are also listed. James may have died in NY as he is not mentioned in his fathers Will. Francis died on Feb. 3, 1871 In of Paralysis. His estate is inherited by his wife, his sons $50 each, and Elizabeth is to give them a home to live in as long as she possess one. Elizabeth died on Aug. 2, 1874 age 62. They are interred at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Joseph C. Dole married in Andover on Jan. 23, 1873 to Georgianna Wardwell b. Feb. 22, 1846, dau. of Simon & Margaret E. F. (Dodge) Wardwell who lived at 28 Prospect St. Joseph & Georgianna had three children: James Arthur b. Nov. 1874, Elizabeth Margaret b. Mar. 1879 and Percy Joseph b. Oct. 31, 1890.
Joseph died on May 17, 1891 of Heart Disease. Georgianna inherits the property. 1908 Directory Mrs. Georgian Dole; Cora G. Dole, student; Percy J. Dole, student; James A. Dole, carpenter; and Mrs. James A. Dole. 13 Holt District r.f.d.2. Georgianna died on Nov. 11, 1930.

James Arthur Dole married in Groveland, MA on Jan 23, 1904 to Cora Bell Gordon dau. of Charles & Mary L. (Hardy) Gordon; James & Cora’s children; Florence b. 1916 and James Gordon b. 1919. James died in 1929. Sister Elizabeth M. married George A. Dumont and brother Percy Joseph married Margaret T. Maguire. The Dole heirs inherit and sell to James T. & Ellen E. French on Feb. 11, 1935.
