John Tuck, the original owner of this property, was born in Beverly, MA in 1792. He was adopted by his great-aunt Hannah (Dodge) Trow and her husband John Trow, who moved to Andover in the late 18th century. Tuck married Elizabeth Ames in 1811 and was the father of 11 children. John Tuck was a farmer and cordwainer. The original 6-acre farm included a house and shop. Tuck was also one of the original shareholders of the West Parish Church, founded in 1826.
John Tuck sold the property to Henry Poor, a Trader, on Aug. 10, 1818. Henry Poor then sold to John Poor and Timothy Poor several parcels of land including this 6 acre parcel. Theodore Poor then purchased the property on Dec. 27, 1827 which included the Poor Homestead farm, several parcels and this 6 acre lot. The six acre Tuck lot was sold by Theodore, wife Sally to James Merrill with house and shop standing on June 19, 1832, recorded on Sept. 25, 1833. Merrill paid $150 for the property.
Harmon Barnard, wife Elizabeth, then purchased the property for $220 on July 26, 1836, but was recorded on Aug. 25, 1849. The Andover Valuation schedule of 1850 lists Barnard's property as Hermon Barnard, 6 acres House & Barn $300. Hermon sold his property for $700 to Abraham S. Barnard on April 17, 1850, rec. on Jan. 22, 1851. Abraham held the property for 12 years then selling for $500 to Charles Cocaneck on Sept. 15, 1863. Cocaneck also added a second 6 acre 130 rod parcel of adjoining land from Abraham Barnard on Nov. 8, 1864. Cocaneck owned the 12 acre farm for 21 years.
Charles T. Smith purchased the home for $1300 on May 23, 1884 and three years later transferred the property to his wife Ellen J. Smith, through their daughter Mary A. Smith.
Several owners have held the property since the John Tuck family, but the current owners, Michael & Joan C. Patrakis, who purchased the home on Mar. 11, 1975 can lay claim as to the longest residents now 41 years in 2016.
