Original owner; Donald family (William Donald).

Miss Alice Donald was resident in white house next to Shawsheen Manor (Directory 1916). She was a descendant of Donald family who were early settlers at Frye Village (now Shawsheen Village).
William Donald founded an ink factory here and in 1840's was an active abolitionist, assisting slaves to freedom in Canada on the "Underground Railway". He also served in the State House of Representatives and was a charter member of the Free Christian Church.
