Architectural Description:
Mid 20th century, split level home, with stone veneer, cedar shingle and vertical boarding with scallop ending as siding treatment. Chimney also in matching stone. The stonework may have been an attempt to mimic the home across the street with similar stonework.
Historical Narrative:
This split-level home was a popular design during the post WWII building explosion through the 1950's and 1960's. The Andover Shawsheen Realty Co. sold this lot of land to Arthur C. & Lillian P. Duhamel on April 27, 1948. The Duhamels then had the house built and moved in by 1949. Arthur was a stock manager for a company in Revere, MA. They owned the home for seven years then sold to J. Donovan & Rosamond Emery on Sept. 26, 1956. The Duhamels moved just north to 436 North Main St.
J. Donovan Emery is listed as a manager and Rosamond a housewife. They owned the home for five years selling in 1961 to Albert A. & Sylvia H. Henriques.
