Historical Narrative:
This property is comprised of two lots, one of Moody Russell, an Andover contractor and David C. Richardson's parcel adjoining Russell's lot. The Park across the street was once pasture land of the Richardson family. Moody Russell sold his lot with "buildings" to
Frank B. Jenkins on April 1, 1886. Frank B. Jenkins then purchased the second parcel from Richardson on May 31, 1886.
Frank B. then transferred the deed through Alvin Jenkins into his wife's name Bertha Jenkins on Dec. 12, 1887. Jenkins owned the home for twelve years then sold to Sarah A. Pomeroy on Nov. 2, 1898.
The home was in the Pomeroy family for 43 years. Sarah A. Pomeroy died in April 13, 1933 leaving her estate to her surviving children, Llewellyn D. Pomeroy and Clinton M. Pomeroy. Clinton Pomeroy died in Nov. 1936 in Philadelphia and the property then went to Llewellyn D. Pomeroy and his wife Caroline M.
Llewellyn D. Pomeroy sold the property to William J. McCarthy on Oct. 29, 1941. William J. McCarthy died on Jan. 23, 1973 and the house was inherited by his brother Timothy Albert McCarthy. Timothy placed the deed in his name and his son William A. McCarthy's name on Nov. 10, 1975. With the death of his father William A. & Pauline E. McCarthy held ownership on April 21, 1992. The home was in the McCarthy family for 72 years before being sold to Christopher B. Cronin, trustee of 46 Chestnut St. Realty Trust on Dec. 5, 2013.
Christopher B. Cronin then began a complete renovation of the house from the inside and out. The exterior was restored to its original appearance.
Prakash B. & Jayashree P. Joshi purchased the home on Oct. 10, 2014.
