This property was formerly owned by Samuel Abbot of Boston and William Abbot of Andover. It would later revert to William Abbot, Anna M. Butterfield, and Samuel's widow Lucretia Abbot. The parcel of 10 acres 102 rods was sold to Walter Murray 2nd, on Dec. 1, 1863 for $547.81. Later deeds refer to this property as the Walter Murry Homestead.
Walters estate was inherited by James W. Murry of Melrose, MA by will of Walter Murray.
Benjamin F. Stafford, wife Minnie bought the property from James Murray on May 17, 1910. The 1920 Andover Valuation lists Stafford's assessment as, House $900., Barn $400. and 6.92 acres $550. The Staffords occupied the home for 18 years then selling to Miles R. & Katherine Ward on April 7, 1928. Ward owned for seven years then selling to William J. & Ann M. Webb on Aug. 3, 1935. The Webbs took a mortgage with the Andover Savings Bank and lost the property to the bank in Feb. 1937. Former owner Miles R. Ward purchased the mortgage deed from the bank.
William P. & Mary H. Daniels purchased the home on May 18, 1940. William was employed with Tyer Rubber Co. as a station engineer. Daniels held for six years then sold to Sarah A. Sweeney of Boston on Jan. 19, 1946. The home remains with the Sweeney family in 2016.
