This property at 6 Chester St. was formerly numbered #12 in the 1940's. The Town did a renumbering plan in 1958 to accommodate future home lots. In the 1959 Street Directories reflect the new house numbers.

This property was owned by John W. Morrison of Boston. John W. had purchased four parcels of land from Nellie E. Morrison along Clark Rd., (then called Lowell St.) and Chester Street which he helped develop. Morrison created individual house lots and sold then sold them to builders and residents.

Morrison sold this property with the dwelling house to Mary J. Sherry, wife of Richard J. Sherry on Feb. 28, 1895. Mary and Richard paid $1300. Richard was born in March 1859 in MA. Mary was born in February 1862 also in MA, and both of Irish parents. Richard is listed as a Dealer in Provisions in the 1900 Census. Mary & Richard had four children of which three survived; Mary F. b. July 1889, Francis b. Apr. 1890 and Charles b. June 1893. They also had three male boarders living with them, all working in the wool mills.

Mary J. Sherry purchased an adjoining lot of 11,405 sq. ft. on June 10, 1914. Mary J. Sherry died on May 11, 1925 and husband Richard J. Sherry was heir of her estate. Richard J. Sherry died on Feb. 4, 1931. Son Charles William and his wife Marie Sherry would then occupy the home. Charles W. died on October 24, 1935. Marie Sherry was heir to his estate. Marie is listed in 1943 as a widow and mill worker.

Wendall R. & Elise Eloise Hopkins purchased the home on Sept. 3, 1953. Wendall Hopkins b. 1926, was an Insurance Claims agent. Elise b. 1921 a housewife. Hopkins owned for 12 years then selling to Richard A. & Yamile H. Wood on July 30, 1965.
