Architectural Description:
Garrison Colonial Revival
Historical Narrative:
I am uncertain of the architect, but Mr. James Hamilton was a quality builder and after 50 years of living in the house, I have experienced no problems. Mr. Hamilton still lives in Andover, on Clark Rd., and he still does carpentry. He became a personal friend and I have had many chances to compliment him on the quality of the building. (W. Lewis).
When Kirkland Drive was developed in 1958 it was part of a farm (Herman Abbot House -161 Lowell St.) that was owned by Kirk and Alice Batcheller. 7 Kirkland Drive was the first house to be built in the development. Mr. Batcheller had planned to build a strictly Colonial development. Unfortunately, he died before he was able to complete the development, and his widow chose to sell off the rest of the property in lots which resulted in a mixed architectural development.
