Historical Narrative: 

Millard Clement was born in Winchester, MA on Oct. 21, 1851, son of Moses & Mary H. Clement. His father was an Andover carpenter and builder. In March of 1865 Jacob Chickering, now age 58, sold his carpentry shops to local contractors George Lewis Abbott & Moses Clement forming Abbott & Clement. These men built a substantial amount of buildings in town after the end of the Civil War. Moses Clement died in July 1867 age 56.

Millard A. Clement is listed as a Temporary member of the class of 1868 of Punchard Free School. He may have had to withdraw from school due to his father's death. He became a store clerk and married on Oct. 6, 1875 to Sarah A. Barnett, b. Feb. 1854 in Andover, daughter of William & Charlotte Barnett. They had four children: Ralph B. b. 1877, Stuart H. b. Feb. 1879, William B. b. April 1885 and Elizabeth b. May 1888.

Mar. 25, 1898 p1 AT - M. A. Clement is remodeling his barn at his home on Park Street. A. F. Abbott is doing the work.

Ammon P. Richardson purchased the property on Dec. 28, 1899 and Millard and family moved to Chester, NH. Ammon Richardson assumed the mortgage owed by Clement to Lawrence Coop. Bank. In 1910 Richardson is unable to pay off the $2400. in principle and the mortgage is sold at auction. Otis Keith pays $4000. at auction in September 1910 and then the property is transferred to Mabel F. Keith, wife of Otis on Sept. 23, 1910. The Keith family would own for 31 years.

Raymond J. & Catherine Lefebure purchased the home on Dec. 23, 1941 and held just two years. James E. & Laura C. Downs of Bancroft Rd. then purchased the property on Oct. 2, 1943.
