This property was once owned by Alfred Kittridge of North Andover, president of the Andover Hat Co. in Ballardvale. Kittridge sold this lot to
Joseph Moore on Apr. 20, 1864 for $60. The property north boundary line was 630 feet from the corner of Tewksbury St on the west side of Center St. Joseph Moore, a watchman, built the home. Moore acquired a second parcel adjoining the house lot on Aug. 16, 1865 for $22. This property was 690 ft. from Tewksbuy St. The lot was purchased from John B. Nichols, assignee of Alfred Kittridge and his wife Mary E. Kittridge. Alfred Kittridge was declared insolvent in 1866.

Edwin Price purchased the property from Moore on Apr. 6, 1868 containing two lots and a dwelling house for $900. Edwin was b. in England 1817 as was his wife Eliza b. 1820 and daughter Sarah b. 1840. In 1850 & 60 they are living in Nashua, NH. Edwin is a file cutter and machinist. Edwin may have relocated to Ballardvale to work in the Whipple File Factory. Edwin died of consumption on June 2, 1869 age 52y 10m. His death was recorded in Fall River, though his is listed as a resident of Andover. The 1872 map of Ballardvale shows Mrs. E. Price at this location. The 1870 Andover Valuation schedule list Mr. Edwin Price, of Fall River, South District, House $400. and 1/4 acre land $50.
Edwin Price's heirs were his children Edwin, Benjamin B., Alexander and Cyrus Price all with a 1/5 share and Edwin P. Hinckley held the last share. Hinckley most likely their daughter Sarah's husband.

The Price estate was sold to Charles Henry Shaw on Dec. 18, 1883 for $500. for the house and first parcel. The 1885 birds eye view of Ballardvale clearly shows this home on Center St. (formerly known as Central St. in Ballardvale in some old deeds). Charles H. Shaw was an operative at J. P. Bradlee's Mill. Charles b. Feb. 23, 1852 in Andover, son of George & Sarah (Stocks) Shaw. Charles married on March 19, 1884 to the widow Ellen J. (Winton) Miller. b. April 21, 1852 daughter of Mathew & Jane Hart (Shaw) Winton who lived next door at 79 Center St. Ellen J. Winton first married Edward A. Miller (b. 1843-d. 1877) and had two sons, Edward E. b. Dec. 8, 1871 and George Robert Miller b. Feb. 19, 1875.

Charles & Ellen did not have children. George R. Miller did share their home. George would marry Harriett S. His step father Charles died in April 1916 and Ellen J. in 1924. George inherited the property and placed the deed in Harriet's name. Harriet died in March 1940 and George the following year in Oct. 1941. They are all interred at Spring Grove Cemetery.

George R. Miller sold just prior to his death to Arlene M. Petty, wife of Frank R. on Feb. 5, 1941. Petty held the property for seven years then selling to Burton B. & Edith J. Batcheller on Aug. 9, 1948.
