Enoch Frye 2nd once owned property along Elm St. (The way from North Parish to South Parish). David H. Atwood purchased the land from Frye on Apr. 18, 1853. He sold a lot to Moses Clement, House-right for $600 on April 15, 1854. We believe Moses Clement built the home and then sold for $1550 to George N. White, wife Mary Ann on Oct. 26, 1855.

Ralph Holbrook Chandler purchased the property on Feb. 22, 1858 which included 27 acres 35 rods. Holbrook Chandler, wife Margaret then convey to his father R. H. Chandler the house lot. Ralph Holbrook Chandler, a widower, died on Aug. 27, 1861 and his estate was Probated on Oct. 1, 1861. The property went to his children; Albonira P. Holbrook and Mary A., Emily J. Joseph K, Nathan, Sarah E., Frances E. and Laura M. Chandler. It appears that his daughters occupied the home until their deaths.

Frances Ellen Chandler, teacher in 1875 at old Central or Center School, a wooden building which stood on the open corner of Central and School Streets next to South Church. The school building was moved 1888 to127 Main St., now the Andover Shop.
Emily Jane Chandler and sister Laura M. Chandler occupied the home in 1910. Emily died on July 9, 1914. The Chandler heirs, now grandchildren, quit claimed the property to Laura M. Chandler on Nov.. 4, 1922. Laura was the youngest child of Ralph Holbrook & Phebe Chandler, b. Oct. 5, 1844. Laura died on Nov. 22, 1928 at age 84 years. She and her family are interred at West Parish Garden Cemetery in the oldest burial section.

There are no deeds from Laura M. Chandler's estate listed on the registry books. More investigation is needed to bring the ownership line forward to the present date.
