John Abbott owned the land on Elm Street and sold a three acre lot for $300. to Benjamin Gleason & Gamiel Gleason on June 15, 1850. Gamiel Gleason sells the property to Benjamin F. Thompson, wife Euphrasia on Jan. 16, 1857. Thompson was a house-wright and took a loan from the Andover Savings Bank for $1200. It is most likely Thompson who built the home on this parcel of land. Thompson owned for ten years then selling to Charles D. V. Noyes on Apr. 23, 1867. Noyes paid $3800. for the 1 acre 47 rods parcel with buildings.

With the death of Charles D. V. Noyes his widow Harriet E. Noyes and only surviving children, Harry H., H. Edna and Frank V. Noyes. The Noyes family then sold to Omar Pasha Chase on April 3, 1895 the 42,195 sq. foot lot with house and barn. Omar P. Chase owned the periodical store at 27 Main Street.

Andover Townsman August 23, 1895 - "J. H. Chandler’s store was sold to Omar P. Chase, now clerk at Valpey Bros. market. Mr. Chase is well known about town." April 26, 1907 AT -- O. P. Chase has placed a handsome new sign over his store front. The Chase paper store and newsstand continued at #27 until March 1910 when O.P. Chase moved to the newer ARCO building across the street. April 1, 1910 AT pg. 5 - O.P. Chase moves into the ARCO building. Omar's brother Herbert F. Chase and wife Margaret L. are living with Omar in the 1910 Census. Herbert Chase owned and operated an Athletic Store (sports equipment and bicycles) and seems to have moved locations along Main St. every time a new building was built.

With the death of Omar P. Chase his estate, administered by Frederick S. Boutwell, Trustee on May 24, 1929 sold the property to Edward T. & Margaret H. McFarlin on May 31, 1929. The McFarlins owned for 22 years then sold to Harold A. & Dorothea Rutter, Jr on Sept. 7, 1951. Rutter held just two years the selling to Edna J. Kidd on Oct. 16, 1953. The Kidd family continue ownership in 2016 now 63 years.
