Woburn St. was once known as the "Old Boston Road" and the Woburn Rd. in early deeds.
This property was once owned by Nathan Ballard Abbott b. Nov. 18, 1816, son of Job & Lucy Abbott. Nathan B. married Elizabeth L. Noyes of Windham, NH, intention listed on on Oct. 30, 1841. Nathan & Elizabeth had four children, Job b. Aug. 23, 1845, Ellen E. (Ella) b. July 25, 1848, Anna B. b. Nov. 26, 1866 and Ira b. 1859. Nathan B. was a farmer. Nathan died on Mar. 21, 1885 and his estate went to his widow Elizabeth, and children Ella, Anna and Ira Abbott.
The Abbott heirs then sold off 43+ acres of land on the east side Woburn St. to Elizabeth H. (Moody) Stickney, wife of Charles C. Stickney on April 22, 1886. Charles C. Stickney was b. Jan. 6, 1856 in Atkinson, NH son of Ezekiel W. & Mary E. (Brickett) Stickney. Charles married on Oct. 23, 1884 to Elizabeth H. Moody, b. Feb. 1859 in Methuen, MA daughter of Almon S. & Hannah A. (Clark) Moody. Her father was a carpenter and may have built the home for her. The Queen Anne style home was most likely built about 1888 - 1889 as it is not shown on the 1888 map of Andover. Almon & Hannah Moody would move to Clark Rd. in the 1880s.
Charles C. Stickney is listed first as a Farmer, then in 1900, as a Coffee Salesman & in 1910 as a Carpenter. They had six children; Charles C. b. Oct. 1885, Melina M. b. Jan. 1888, Hannah C. b. Apr. 1890, twins Walter E. and Mary E. b. Aug. 1894 and Roscilla J. b. Feb. 1898. The Stickney's owned the property for 43 years, selling off portions during their time here. The 1920 Andover Valuation Schedule lists Charles C. Stickney, Woburn St. - House $1100, Barn & sheds $350. and 37 acres of land on Woburn St. $700. His wife Elizabeth H. holds 6 acres Perry land $100. and 5 acres "Plains" $100.
Stickney sold a portion of the land with the house to Alphonse & Elmire Mailoux on July 10, 1920. Elizabeth Stickney held a portion of the property to the south and east of the Mailoux parcel and reserved a right of way to her lot via a "cart path" mentioned in the deeds and shown on Land Court map #14540 A. Charles and Elizabeth then moved to Clark Rd in 1920.
Alphonse applied to Land Court on Dec. 5, 1930 over a boundary dispute which the Courts found in his favor on March 21, 1930. His deeds from this point are recorded by Certificate number.
In 1945 Carl J. Finley, from Wakefield b. 1918, a carpenter and his wife Ethel R. b. 1921,a shoe worker purchase the property which contains six acres. The land is sub-divided through the years and Flinley later sells off the remaining land to Baker's Meadow Realty Trust in Dec. 30, 1969. The businessmen and contractors are Neil L. Mitton, Herbert G. Schurian, Joseph Watson and Arthur Williams who then develop Enfield Drive. The Finley parcel at 96 Woburn now contains 1.875 acres.
