Original owner: Clifford Dunnells,

Property bought from Francis Homer Foster of Central St. The Fosters owned a substantial amount of land in Andover; originally a King's grant.

Original owners & builders: Clifford & Mabel R. (Bailey) Dunnells - 1927-1962

Clifford Winslow Dunnells was an insurance agent at Smart and Flagg Insurance Co., Andover. Clifford was born in 1894, son of George C. & Sarah Emma (Winslow) Dunnells. His father George was born in Newfield, Maine, and Sarah or "Sadie" was born in Brewster, MA. George C. at one time delivered fish in Andover by horse and wagon; later was an Andover police officer and call fireman. Clifford and Mabel married about 1923 and had one daughter Edith L. b. 1924.

Mabel (Bailey) Dunnells lived originally on the Bailey farm on Laurel Lane in West Andover. Mabel Roxie Bailey was b. Nov. 18, 1890 in West Andover, daughter of Alfonso Augustus & Louisa Rounds (Wentworth) Bailey. who were married on Nov. 18, 1889. Her mother was born in 1867 in Hiram, Coos Co., Maine, daughter of John and Lucy M. Wentworth. Louisa was the youngest of five children. Alfonso b. Sept. 6, 1860 in Andover, son of Warren Augustus & Sarah (Nay) Bailey. Louisa & Alfonso would have two children: Mabel Roxie and Warren Augustus b. April. 30, 1892. Sadly Alphonso died of Consumption on July 16, 1893 leaving Louisa with two young children. Louisa would live with her in-laws Warren & Sarah Bailey. Her infant son Warren A. was left in the care of her parents to raise in Hiram, Maine. Louisa would re-marry two years later on Aug. 14, 1895 to her brother-in-law Henry Hersey Bailey, b. Sept. 19, 1865.

Louisa & Henry would also have two children, Ethel Marion b. May 15, 1896 and Arlon Wentworth b. Nov. 4, 1898. Once again Louisa would become a widow when Henry H. died on Jan. 7, 1900 of Apoplexy from alcohol. In the 1900 census she continues to raise her children with the in-laws. Warren Bailey died on May 2, 1909. In the 1910 Census it appears that Louisa is living in the home at 59 River Road. Now 45 years old she is a dress maker. Her daughter Mabel, age 19, is a stenographer for the American Woolen Co. It has been stated that she was a secretary for William M. Wood. Ethel 14 and Anton 11 are students at the North District School across the street. Annie Shirley age 30, the school teacher boards with the Bailey family. Once the children are established in occupations, Louisa sells the property and the family moves to 4 Avon Street near the center of Andover.

The home was first occupied by Clifford & Mabel and Clifford's parents George & Sadie Dunnells. George C. died on Aug. 19, 1930 and Sadie on on May 1, 1944. Sadly Clifford died three years later at age 53 on March 23, 1947. Mabel remained in her home and died on Sept. 7, 1962. The property was then inherited by their daughter Edith L. (Dunnells) Eastman.

Frederick C. & Edith L. (Dunnells) Eastman owned from 1962 - 2009. Edith died Sept. 26, 2008 and husband Frederick sold the property to the Abbot Street Realty LLC. The property was further subdivided, creating lots to the west of the home and a corner lot at Abbot and Eastman Streets. The Dunnell- Eastman house was purchased by Peter B. & Shirley Schultz on June 8, 2011. The Schultz family did extensive renovations adding a port cochere on the north side of the home and rear addition but maintained true to the architectural style of the home.
