Henry Lovejoy, Yeoman, sold his homestead property to his two sons William and Joshua on Sept. 25, 1745. Both sons were Saddlers. William paid 400 pounds, for the 10 acre homestead lot and the west half of the house. He paid 200 pds. for ½ share of the gristmill and 5/8 right to the dam. Joshua got a 20 acre parcel extending down to the river, and barn and a portion of the homestead property. Joshua paid 250 pds. for his ½ share of the gristmill, 5/8 right to the dam and water rights. Joshua had also purchased in Jan. 20, 1743 for 300 pds., ¾ part of the Forge or Iron Works, on the west side of the Shawsheen River and 3/8 of the Lovejoy dam. The deed also included the two northward coal houses westward of the forge and all utensils. It appears that Henry occupied the east side of the house. Henry died and was buried on Feb. 2, 1776.

Joshua sold the east end of the house and east ½ of the barn to Abiel Faulkner, a cabinet maker, on Apr. 18, 1791 for 60 pds. the deed states “15 ft. of the east end of his dwelling house, from the bottom of the cellar to top of the roof, also my oven room as far as the oven extends toward to door of my middle room. Also use of the well, ½ of the yard before the house, and 13 ft. of the east end of the barn from ground to top & ½ the barn yard as it is now fenced in….”

Joshua Lovejoy then deeds to his two sons-in-law, John Poor and Theophilus Frye on Apr. 18, 1791, the two small parcels where the house stands and the barn stands excluding the ½ that was deeded to Faulkner. The deed includes a life tenancy for Joshua and his wife Lydia (Abbott). Lydia died at age 82 of lung fever and was interred on Sept. 11, 1807. Joshua died on Feb. 2, 1812 age 91 years.

Abiel Faulkner, a cabinet maker, married three times; Hannah Abbot on Feb. 6, 1777 – d. Nov. 14, 1789 age 30, Lydia Osgood on Dec. 20, 1891- d. Oct. 2, 1816 age 60, and Clarissa Dillaway int. Apr. 7, 1817 – d. Dec. 26, 1827 age 52. Abiel & Hannah had six children; Abiel b. 1778-d. 1794, Hannah b. 1779, Mary b. 1881, Joseph b. July 30, 1783, John b. Mar. 7, 1785 and Thomas b. 1787. Abiel died Nov. 26, 1818 age 63.

Abiel deeded his property on Apr.4, 1815 for $100 to sons Joseph and John, both cabinet makers. Joseph got the 15 ft. east end of the house & barn and John the 30 ft. west side. The deed states “excepting the oven and the room round said oven as the patrician now stands belonging to the east part of my house, the privileges of using, which I am still to improve till I may build my oven elsewhere, then the oven and room…with land under…shall be attached to the west part of said house..” also ½ west side of garden in front, also my new barn standing southeasterly of my old barn.

John also purchased from his father the property opposite the homestead on the west side of High St. with building (now #60) on Mar. 20, 1815 b. 221 leaf 163.

Joseph Faulkner married June 13, 1809 to Lydia Russell. Children: Lydia Abbot b. 1810, Joseph Warren b. 1812, infant b. & d. 1/21/1815, Mary Poor b. 1817, infant b. & d 12/2/1824.

John Faulkner married June 14, 1812 to Hannah Holt. Children: Hannah Abbot b. 1814 - d. 1844, Julia Ann b. 1820, John Sullivan b. 1823 – d. 1848. John bought his brother’s half of the property at auction for $333. on May 17, 1819. Joseph was taken to court by Joseph L. Low for money owned.
The courts then seized his equity in his portion of the property and it was then sold to John as the highest bidder. John died June 27, 1823 age 39 and his estate was sold at auction to Jeremiah Hurd, wife Martha for $100. Hurd held the property five years then selling to Stephen C. Moar, Yeoman, on Jan 17, 1827 for $1050. Stephen C. of Andover held for 21 years then sold for $2500 to his sons Stephen C. Moar of Lowell and Joshua Moar of Andover on Feb. 7, 1848.

The 1850 Valuation Schedule lists a Stephen C. Moar with dwelling house and barn $1100. and 9 acres of land $700. Stephen became sole owner on May 8, 1849. The 1852 map list S.C. Moore at this location.

William Wood, wife Margaret, purchased the 9 acre property on Mar. 30, 1865. Wood was a carpenter and house builder. Wood sold 8 acres 109 rods for $3500 to local businessman John H. Flint owned several properties on High St. and developed Maple Ave. His family home was at 8 Elm Street facing Elm Sq. John H. Flint later sold to Sarah A. Brown, wife of William G. Brown on May 2, 1882. The Brown family owned for 34 years
