84 North Main Street “Patrick Hodnett House” built in 1895
The lot was created by the firm of Hardy & Cole after they acquired the Joseph Low Estate at #70 North Main in 1892. Patrick Hodnett purchased the parcel on April 20, 1895 and had the home constructed. The Andover Townsman (AT) reported May 3, 1895; “Besides the lot mentioned last week, Hardy & Cole have sold two more lots from the Lowe estate, one to Patrick Hartwell [sic] and the other to Wm. Hardney. [sic] (Hodnett #84 & Harnedy #92-94).
AT May 17, 1895 - Architect Regan is preparing plans for the house of Patrick Hartnett on Main St.
AT June 7, 1895 - The cellar is about ready of Patrick Hartnett’s new home. A. M. Bancroft is doing the work.
AT June 21, 1895 – Hardy & Cole have the frame up on Patrick Hartnett’s new house.
Patrick Hodnett is listed as a laborer in town directories. The house number was given as #86 & #72 but in 1908 as #84. Mrs. Ellen Hodnett is living here along with Ellen, a housekeeper; Katherine, employed at Tyer Rubber Co.; Lizzie, Marland Mill; Mary, T. R. Co.; Norma M., stenographer and Richard J. Hodnett also at T.R.Co.
