This property was once owned by John H. Flint and the parcel sold to Thomas W. Platt on April 15, 1911. Thomas was a house carpenter who lived at 3 Pine St. The Platt family are living in this home as listed in the 1916 Andover Directory. We believe it was built by Platt. Thomas W. Platt was born in Dec. 1865 and married July 31, 1892 to Annie Hallisy b. Avon, MA dau. of James & Annie (Harrison) Hallisy.
Thomas & Annie had seven children: Annie M, b. 1893, Thomas W. Jr. b. Dec. 1894, George b. 1903, b. Charles b. 1907, Helen b., James b, and John H. Son Thomas Jr. enlisted in the Naval Reserves in April 1917 during WWI. His tour of duty was on the coast of Maine. Sadly contracted pneumonia and died at the Portsmouth Navel Hospital on Oct. 14, 1918.
Thomas Sr. would sell the house to Frederick White on Aug. 7, 1919 and moved to 42 Chestnut St. The Andover Valuation schedule 1920 lists Frederick White 42 Walnut Ave. House $3200, 11535 sq. ft. land $700 = $3900.

In 1920 Frederick White is listed as a Picker in the stick factory at 42 Park St. John E. White was the manager and Peter White the shipper. All list 42 Walnut as their home address. Frederick married Emma J. who was deeded the property on June 2, 1926.
