This property was once a portion of the parcel of land of the former Brook - Marland house at 8 Book Street. That property was acquired by William S. Jenkins, builder, for $2135 which included the home and about 1 1/2 acres of land along the west side of Brook St. William Jenkins sold the lot at 12 Book St. to Frederick Hulme for $700. on on Dec. 7, 1885. The deed restriction included that Hulme "must build a suitable fence between his lot and William S. Jenkins property. It is not yet known if Hulme hired Jenkins to build his home. Frederick Hulme is owner-occupant in 'Town of Andover Real Estate Valuation for 1900'. The home remained in the Hulme family for 50 years.

The Lawrence Cooperative Bank acquired the property in 1936 via a mortgage deed and then sold to Michael F. & Alice C. Brennan on June 12, 1937. On July 29, 1955 the property was placed in Alice C. Brennan and her son Michael Elwood Brennan's names. Alice C Brennan died on September 20, 1976 and Michael Elwood Brennan inherited the property.

Michael Elwood Brennan and wife Shirley M. Brennan co-own on Feb. 7, 1977. On Sept. 17, 1986 the property is then placed with Shirley M. Brennan and their son Michael Edmund Brennan's names. Shirley M. Brennan later is sole owner in 1996 and sells the property to St. Mary's Church Society of Lawrence ( Saint Augustine's Church) on Nov. 5, 1997.
