Architectural Description:
Seven fireplaces, two chimneys - original front facade would have been 5 bay symmetrical Federal facing south. Ell attached to east front-side creates "L" shape and unusual corner front entry addition, 1976 addition, also rear additions.

This property was once owned by Capt. Moses Abbott. Moses Abbott was born Aug. 9, 1735 in Andover, MA son of Barachias & Hannah (Holt) Abbott. Moses married on Dec. 31, 1761 to Elizabeth Holt b. June 8, 1743 dau. of Henry & Rebecca (Gray) Holt of Andover. Moses & Hannah had eleven children: Rebecca 1763-1844, Moses Jr. 1765-1813, Elizabeth 1768-1829, Noah b. May 11, 1770 –d. July 13, 1849, Hannah b.1772-1772, Enoch b. Apr. 8, 1774 – d Sept. 26, 1842, Rhoda Ann 1776-1827, Henry 1778-1845, Jacob 1781-1836, Abigail 1783-1827, and Phoebe 1786- ? Moses Abbott served as a Lieutenant in the French & Indian War. Moses was a Yeoman, or farmer, surveyor and schoolmaster. Moses built his homestead on Stinson Road. Moses died Feb. 23, 1826 and his widow Hannah seven years later on Sept. 23, 1833.
Two sons, Noah Abbott b. May 11, 1770 and Enoch Abbott b. Apr. 8, 1774 would end up dividing their father’s farm. Noah took the east section of the farm and the house at 22 Stinson Rd and Enoch bought the west section and homestead at 6 Stinson Rd. Noah paid $1000 for 21 acre part of Moses Farm with buildings and five additional parcels.
Noah Abbott married Feb. 18, 1806 to Hannah Holt b. Apr. 16, 1771 dau. of Dane & Lydia (Ballard) Holt. They had one son Noah Abbott Jr. b. Jan. 2, 1810. Son Noah Jr., married on Jan. 1, 1834 to Eliza Augusta Manning b. b. 1808 in Tewksbury, MA, dau. of Samuel & Nancy (Simonds) Manning. Noah & Nancy had three children: Eliza Augusta b. Nov. 3, 1834, Hannah b. Nov. 10, 1838 d. May 30, 1839 and Noah B. born Nov. 3, 1840.
Sadly Noah Jr. died of dysentery at age 39 on Sept. 17, 1840, two months prior to his sons birth. Noah’s estate went to his wife Nancy and his children. Nancy held the east side of the house, and daughter Eliza and her brother Noah B. would later divide the remaining estate in 1857. Noah B. a minor had Henry J. Gray has his guardian and Trustee to his portion of the estate. Noah B. got the “west end of the house, NW portion of the garden, with Hog house, east end of the barn, so far westerly as the center of the floor way” when he reached 21 years of age.
Eliza married on Oct. 15, 1853 to Henry C. Higgins, a merchant in Andover. In the 1860 Census Eliza, Henry and 5 year old daughter Hattie live with their mother Hannah age 89 on her side of the house. Noah B. age 19 is also listed in the home as a shoemaker. Noah B. joined the Army during the Civil War from 1862-1865. He served with the Co. H. Mass. 1st Heavy Artillery as a Private & carpenter. He married on July 24, 1862 to Harriet H. Hamden b. 1843 in Wilmington, MA dau. of Samuel & Nancy Hamden.
In 1864 Noah's occupation is soldier. He quit claimed his interest in his mother’s estate who died the month prior to his wedding on June 14, 1862. On Sept. 29, 1864 Noah deeds to Higgins the west end of the barn and the 8 acres the home is on. Noah B. & Harriet had one son Clarence T. b. May 1865 in Wilmington. It is not known what happen in the marriage, but Harriet and Clarence live with her widowed mother in Wilmington in 1880. Noah B. lived in Andover, with family members.
The property was sold to Arthur N. Bean on Oct. 28, 1865.
Later owners: Frederick and Helen Worthen, 1954; Richard E. & Helen T. Chapel in Sept. 5, 1967 house lot contained 14.13 acres extending to Salem St.
Meadowood Farm Realty Trust, Ann Squires Erickson Tr. purchased the property on Sept. 8, 1978, They sub-divided the property and the house and new lot size was 1.o7 acre parcel. A small 600 sq foot parcel was also added.
