The property was once part of the Nathan Hazen Estate at 111 Main Street which extended from Locke Street to Morton Street. John H. & Frances A. Flint purchased the property and began to divide the former estate into house lots which spurred development on both Locke Street and southward along Main Street. The house was built by William S. Jenkins, local contractor in 1891 for George W. & Belle Foster.
Oct. 22, 1892 AT – Geo. W. Foster and family are occupying their new residence on Main Street.
Foster owned the single family home containing 17 rooms until May 1905 when it was sold to William S. Knox and Walter Coulson business partners in Lawrence under the name Knox & Coulson. Walter Coulson was deeded the property in Sept. 1908 and then sold to Mary Abbie Walker wife of Dr. William Walker in Oct. 1908. Walker owned the home for 32 years then selling to Dr. William & Marjorie Emmons on March 1, 1940. Leon John Davidson purchased the property in Aug. 1963 and then sold to Donald & Barbara Richmond in June 1976. The property remains with the Richmond family under the name ARCO Properties LLC as of June 2007.
The former single family home was converted into apartments and now contains 17 rooms, 6 units, 5 bedrooms and 6 baths.
