George built and owned the home next door at 6 Punchard Ave. It appears that George Abbott built this home about 1876 as he took a $6000. mortgage from John Dove on Feb. 25, 1876 deeded the property to Dove with buildings. George Abbott held on to the property until his death. George H. Poor, trustee, of Abbott's estate sold the property to Edward B. Hutchinson, wife Effie, on April 30, 1892. Hutchinson owned for 25 years then selling to Gertrude Barnard Bergstrom on May 28, 1917. Bergstrom owned for 27 years and with her death the property was sold to Fred & Alice Floyd on Aug. 17, 1944 for $9000. Floyd held for only 5 years then sold to Norman & Gladys Barraclough on June 17, 1949.
Paul W. & Kathleen J. Cronin were the next owners on Dec. 13, 1963. Paul was active in town affairs and served as a selectman. He then served as a State Representative. Paul was ultimately elected to the U. S. House of Representatives representing the 5th district that included Andover from 1973-1975. Sadly he died on April 5, 1997.
