The Revolutionary War Memorial Park and monument were created by the Town of Andover during our country's Bicentennial Anniversary of the War of Independence in 1976. The Andover Militia answered the call to Lexington & Concord on April 19, 1775 but arrived too late to engage the British. The Battle of Bunker Hill in Charlestown saw Andover's first casualties as five Militia Men died of wounds during engagement. A total of twenty two Andover men made the ultimate sacrifice for Independence and Liberty.

The inscription:
"He Fought The Fight, He Kept The Step,
Loyal, And Brave, And True.
For A Free Land He Paid The Price,
Comrades, That Day For You."
